Rocuronium, Zemuron blocks acetylcholine from binding to receptors on motor endplate inhibiting depolarization.

Neuromuscular blockade for endotracheal intubation, surgery, or mechanical ventilation

Before starting Rocuronium, Zemuron make sure your physician is aware of any allergies or medications you currently take, if you have a recent burn injury, cardiovascular disease, a condition that potentiates or antagonizes neuromuscular blockade, hepatic impairment, pulmonary hypertension, respiratory disease, valvular heart disease, are pregnant, or breastfeeding. Rocuronium, Zemuron use has been associated with rare but serious adverse events such as anaphylactoid/hypersensitivity reactions, neuromuscular cross sensitivity, and prolonged paralysis.

Rapid sequence intubation: IV: 0.6 to 1.2 mg/kg

Tracheal intubation: IV: Initial: 0.45 to 0.6 mg/kg; administration of 0.3 mg/kg may also provide optimal conditions for tracheal intubation 

Maintenance for continued surgical relaxation: 0.1 to 0.2 mg/kg; repeat as needed or a continuous infusion of 10 to 12 mcg/kg/minute (0.6 to 0.72 mg/kg/hour)

How to Take: May be given as a bolus injection (undiluted) or via a continuous infusion. Store unopened/undiluted vials under refrigeration at 2°C to 8°C (36°F to 46°F). When stored at room temperature (25°C [77°F]), it is stable for 60 days; once opened, use within 30 days.

You Need to Avoid: Significant drug interactions exist, requiring dose/frequency adjustment or avoidance so avoid starting any new medications without consulting prescriber.   Do not allow product to freeze.

Increased peripheral vascular resistance, tachycardia, hypertension, transient hypotension, anaphylaxis
