Ophthalmic Nonsteroidal Anti-inflammatory Drug (NSAID)

Diclofenac (Ophthalmic)/Voltaren Ophtha reversibly inhibits cyclooxygenase 1 and 2 (COX 1 and 2) which decreases prostaglandin production (inflammatory mediators).  Has anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antipyretic properties (fever reducing).

Diclofenac (Ophthalmic)/Voltaren Ophtha is officially indicated for ocular pain/photophobia, postoperative ocular inflammation (may be used for conditions not listed)

Before starting Diclofenac (Ophthalmic)/Voltaren Ophtha make sure your physician is aware of any allergies or medications you currently take, if you have diabetes, ocular disease, rheumatoid arthritis, are pregnant or breastfeeding

Instill one to two drops in affected eye(s) 3-5 times per day

How to Take: Follow instructions provided by physician/pharmacy label, use consistently at same times each day unless otherwise directed, store at room temperature.  Apply light pressure to lacrimal sac (inside corner of eye near nose) for 60 seconds after application to prevent drainage of the drop from eye.

You Need to Avoid: Do not wear contact lenses during therapy, do not touch tip of applicator to any surfaces or to the eye itself to avoid contamination

Transient burning/stinging in eyes, lacrimation (watery eyes), increased intraocular pressure, keratitis (redness/inflammation of cornea)

Note this is not a complete list of side effects, only common ones

1. What do I do if I am prescribed multiple eyedrops at the same time?
   If they are to be administered at the same time, wait at least 10 minutes between each kind of drop to allow time for medication to absorb into eye.  Applying two different drops too close to each other will cause dilution of each resulting in a reduced effect of both.
