Cyclobenzaprine/Flexeril/Fexmid is a centrally acting skeletal muscle relaxant that works on both alpha and gamma motor neurons resulting in decreased skeletal muscle tone

Cyclobenzaprine/Flexeril/Fexmid is officially indicated for muscle spasm, or musculoskeletal pain.  It is also commonly prescribed off-label for use in fibromyalgia as an alternate agent.

Before starting Cyclobenzaprine/Flexeril/Fexmid make sure your physician is aware of any allergies or medications you currently take, if you are on an MAO inhibitor, have hyperthyroidism, heart failure, arrhythmia, glaucoma, liver disease or are pregnant or breastfeeding

5mg-10mg one to three times daily as needed

How to Take: Follow instructions provided by physician/pharmacy label, swallow whole, take consistently at same times each day unless otherwise directed, store at room temperature

You Need to Avoid: Operating heavy machinery or driving at least until you know how the medication affects you.  Make sure your physician is aware of any other medications you are on and do not mix with any other CNS depressants such as alcohol due to a compounded effect 

Drowsiness, dizziness, xerostomia (dry mouth)

1. What can I do if Cyclobenzaprine/Flexeril/Fexmid sedates me too much?
   It is a common side effect but in most cases the tablet can be split for smaller dosages to alleviate fatigue.  Discuss with your pharmacist or physician a plan to manage this or potential alternative medications.
