Cinacalcet, Sensipar increases the sensitivity of the calcium-sensing receptor on the parathyroid gland. This results in lowering parathyroid hormone, serum calcium, and serum phosphorus levels, thereby preventing progressive bone disease and adverse events associated with mineral metabolism disorders.

Hyperparathyroidism (Primary/Secondary), Parathyroid Carcinoma

Before starting Cinacalcet, Sensipar make sure your physician is aware of any allergies or medications you currently take if your serum calcium less than the lower limit of normal range, if you have hepatic impairment, a seizure disorder, are pregnant, or breastfeeding. Cinacalcet, Sensipar use has been associated with rare but potentially serious adverse events such as adynamic bone disease, cardiovascular effects, gastrointestinal effects, and hypocalcemia.

Oral: 30-180mg one to four times daily Oral: Initial: 30 mg twice daily; increase dose incrementally every 2 to 4 weeks (to 60 mg twice daily, 90 mg twice daily, and 90 mg 3 or 4 times daily) as necessary to normalize serum calcium levels.
