Alfuzosin, Uroxatral/Xatral selectively binds and blocks the alpha-1 adrenergic receptors on the smooth muscle of the bladder and prostate.  Blockade of these adrenoreceptors can cause smooth muscles in the bladder neck and prostate to relax, resulting in improvement in urine flow rate and a reduction in BPH symptoms.

Benign prostatic hyperplasia

Before starting Alfuzosin, Uroxatral/Xatral make sure your physician is aware of any allergies or medications you currently take.   It is important that you are aware of serious adverse effects associated with using Alfuzosin, Uroxatral/Xatral such as angina, CNS depression, floppy iris syndrome, orthostatic hypotension and priapism.  Alfuzosin, Uroxatral/Xatral should be used with caution in patients with cardiovascular disease, hepatic and renal impairment because of the potential to cause a worsening of their condition.

Oral: 10mg once daily.

How to Take: Take immediately following a meal at the same time each day.  Swallow the tablet whole; do not crush or chew.

Dizziness, fatigue, headache, pain, abdominal pain, constipation, dyspepsia, nausea, impotence, upper respiratory tract infection, bronchitis, pharyngitis, sinusitis.
