Description: Antihypertensive; Beta-Blocker With Intrinsic Sympathomimetic Activity

Pindolol, Visken blocks both beta1– and beta2-receptors and has mild intrinsic sympathomimetic activity.  This results in negative inotropic and chronotropic effects and can significantly slow AV nodal conduction.

Hypertension

Before starting Pindolol, Visken make sure your physician is aware of any allergies or medications you currently take, if you have bronchospastic disease, cardiovascular disease, conduction abnormalities, diabetes, hepatic impairment, myasthenia gravis, peripheral vascular disease, pheochromocytoma, psoriasis, renal impairment, thyroid disease, are pregnant, or breastfeeding. Pindolol, Visken use has been associated with rare but serious adverse events such as hypersensitivity reactions including anaphylaxis.

Oral: 5 – 30mg twice daily

How to Take: Follow instructions provided by physician/pharmacy label, take consistently at same times each day unless otherwise directed, store at room temperature.  May be administered without regard to meals.  

Edema, insomnia, dizziness, fatigue, nervousness, abnormal dreams, nausea, increased serum AST/ALT, myalgia, arthralgia
