When pregnancy is detected, discontinue irbesartan as soon as possible. Drugs that act directly on the renin-angiotensin system can cause injury and even death to the developing fetus.”

Irbesartan, Avapro is an angiotensin II blocker and prevents the angiotensin II from binding to its receptor.  Angiotensin II acts as a vasoconstrictor and stimulates the release of aldosterone. Once aldosterone is released, sodium as well as water are reabsorbed. The end result is an elevation in blood pressure. Irbesartan, Avapro thereby prevent vasoconstriction and the aldosterone secreting effects of angiotensin II.

Diabetic nephropathy, hypertension

Before starting Irbesartan, Avapro make sure your physician is aware of any allergies and medications you currently take.  There is a risk of developing hyperkalemia and worsening renal function when taking Irbesartan, Avapro so it is best advised that your doctor monitor you carefully for any complications 

Oral: 150mg to 300mg daily.

How to Take: Take with or without food.

Hyperkalemia, dizziness, hypotension, fatigue, diarrhea, heartburn, and dyspepsia.

1. What do I do if I show signs of high potassium levels (nausea, weakness, irregular heartbeat, tingling sensation, loss of movement)
   Seek immediate medical attention, it may be a rare but potentially serious side effect.
