Description Of Product

Histamine H1 agonist; Histamine H3 Antagonist

How Does It Work

H1 receptor activation results in increased blood flow to inner ear and has some excitatory action on cortical and subcortical structures. H3 inhibition decreases vestibular sensory output and increases the release of histamine in the hypothalamus. Betahistine/Serc is relatively inactive at the H2 receptor.

Indications For Use

Meniere disease (to decrease episodes of vertigo)

Precautions

Before starting Betahistine/Serc make sure your physician is aware of any allergies or medications you currently take, if you have asthma, cardiovascular disease, liver disease, a history of peptic ulcer, are pregnant or breastfeeding

Usual Dosing

8mg-24mg one to three times daily as directed (some rare cases the dosage may be significantly higher for nonresponsive patients)

How to Take: Follow instructions provided by physician/pharmacy label, swallow whole, take consistently at same times each day unless otherwise directed, store at room temperature, take with food if it upsets the stomach

You Need to Avoid: Mixing with antihistamines may reduce effect of this medication
